When and where is the race?

Saturday, October 31, 2026 — Halloween morning. Start and finish are at the trailhead off Fall Creek Road in Swan Valley, Idaho — about 35 minutes from Idaho Falls, 45 minutes from Rexburg, and 1 hour from Jackson Hole. The 50K starts at 6:00 AM, the half marathon at 9:00 AM. Both distances share a 3:00 PM cutoff.

What are the cutoff times?

The hard cutoff for all runners is 3:00 PM. That's 9 hours for the 50K (start 6:00 AM) and 6 hours for the half marathon (start 9:00 AM). Aid stations will begin pulling support after the cutoff.

Is the course marked?

Yes. Both distances are fully marked with reflective flagging, signage at junctions, and course marshals at key turns. 50k runners are required to have the route downloaded to a device. Show proof at checkin.

What's included with my entry?

Race day technical merch, a custom finisher prize, fully staffed aid stations stocked with an abundance of food and drink, free camping at the start/finish, awards for top finishers and best costumes, and live timing.

Are costumes really encouraged?

Absolutely. It's Halloween morning in monster country. We give awards for the best costume on course — just make sure you can actually run in it.

Can I transfer or refund my bib?

Entries are non-refundable, but bib transfers are allowed through October 15, 2026. Reach out to quinndangerkunz@gmail.com to arrange.

What about weather?

Late October in Swan Valley can mean anything from sun to snow. Dress in layers, bring a shell, and be ready for the trail to be wet, frozen, or both.

What happens in extreme weather?

If conditions on the ridgeline turn dangerous, the course director may — at their sole discretion — swap both distances onto a backup loop course at Rainbow Valley Ranch. The race still goes. We'll communicate any change as early as possible and post final word at packet pickup.
